Hi, My name is Jan Stewart Sørensen,
I use Stewart as my first name.
I was born in Odense, Denmark in 1967 and am now living in Berlin, Germany.
I have been a creative since I was born more or less, always drawing and making up ideas.
I started early in advertising and have worked in the business for more than 20 years covering various fields – You might have noticed the spread of areas looking at my Portfolio.
I am very concept minded and skill wise I am properly what would be referred to as a still generalist.
I like clear premises and whenever possible I opt for dialog to find the right solutions. Ogilvy has always been my main inspiration in advertising – What he have shared is still very valuable and useful, even that the media available has opened many new options of interaction and communication, the right appeal still plays a major role in connecting to the end user.
I am both a real teamplayer but I also work independently. Got good “antennas” and and pick up new knowledge areas quite fast. I´m generally quite flexible and I can listen as much as I can talk – and believe me with the right subject I can talk the sun down. I am not un emotional about design at all, but I believe that argumentative process is far the best way to solve most tasks.
I like clean compositions and my fall back is rooted in the Scandinavian Design tradition. I am also quite fond of Japanese aesthetics. Tough I find that, especially for advertising, any style that suits a projects the best way is the style to apply, regardless of what I think personally as a designer.
Some of my friends and colleagues say that I am a little “crazy” in a positive way – The funny thing is that I don´t see it that way, to me many of the ideation processes is just logical progression – But I will admit that my mind can travel very far when exploring a subject.
Apart from being a professional creative, I also enjoy making music and I have trained the Martial Art Aikido for over ten years. I have travelled quite a lot, especially in South East Asia and I really like Jungle Hiking. Also I enjoyed worked in Vietnam a few years ago as a Design Director educating the graphic staff.
Honestly I am not to much for gossip, but you can always talk to me about cars, traffic, energy, design, philosophy, politics, movies, strategy, martial arts, cooking and healthy food. Also futurism and Science fiction is on my plate.
If you got this far reading about me I thank you for the time – If you still want to know more then perhaps we should get in contact.
Best wishes and enjoy your time on the planet
NB. I speak Danish, English and German + a lot of other languages that i don´t understand.
